RUPAG Demands Urgent Crackdown on Illegal Raw Rubber Export

Accra: The Rubber Association of Ghana (RUPAG) has raised concerns over the persistent illegal exportation of cup lumps, which hampers the growth of local value addition efforts and industrialization. Data reveals that these illegal exports jeopardize over 1,300 direct jobs and more than 70,000 indirect livelihoods throughout Ghana’s rubber sector. In response, the Association has urged security agencies to address the illegal and unregulated export of raw rubber to protect Ghanaian farmers and the national economy. FAO Trains Veterinary Officers in Savannah Region on Animal Health

Government Hikes Cocoa Producer Price for 2025/2026 Crop Season

Accra: Government has announced an increase in the producer price of cocoa from GHS49,600 (US$3,100) per tonne to GHS51,660 (US$5,040) per tonne for the 2025/26 crop season, which begins on August 7, 2025. It has by this decision increased the producer price significantly by 62.58 percent in dollar terms. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister for Finance, who chaired the Producer Price Review Committee, said the increase in the producer price represented 70 percent of the gross Free-On-Board (FOB) value of $7,200 per tonne, and aligned with President Mahama’s promise to pay cocoa farmers 70 percent of the FOB price.

Robbery: Two Men Jailed for 30 Years

Tarkwa: Two men who planned to rob commuters on the Asankra Saah-Asankragwa Road in the Wassa Amenfi West Municipality of the Western Region have been handed 15 years’ imprisonment each with hard labour by the Tarkwa Circuit Court. They are Mohammed Abdul Salam, 28, and Karim Yakubu, 42, both unemployed.
