Mpox Cases Effectively Managed in Western Region, Reports Health Director

Accra: The Western Regional Health Directorate has recorded 60 confirmed Mpox cases out of 299 suspected cases from January to June, 2025. Dr. Gifty Amugi, the Regional Public Health Director, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, noted that 299 samples were taken and 186 came out as negative while, 53 were pending. According to Ghana News Agency, the Directorate listed 374 contacts and had since traced them. Dr. Amugi indicated that out of the number, 217 had been followed up within a 21-day period, and that currently, there were 32 on home care, 28 recoveries with no deaths.
