Bibiani: The Management of Asante Gold Bibiani Limited has donated more than 230 mono desks valued at Gh300,000 to Queens Senior High School in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai municipality of the Western North Region.

According to Ghana News Agency, the donation was made in response to a request by the paramount chief of the Anhwiaso traditional area, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi, and the leadership of the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai municipal Assembly. The request was to support the school with much-needed furniture. Mr. Emmanuel Aidoo, the Community Relations Manager, highlighted that the initiative was part of the company's commitment to addressing gender parity in education.

Mr. Aidoo emphasized that the support aims to encourage more females to pursue higher education. He assured that the company would continue to support educational institutions within their catchment areas, with a special focus on Queens Senior High School, the only girls' school in the Western North Region. He also advised the students to handle the desks with care and strive for good academic performance to qualify for the company's scholarship scheme for tertiary education.

Madam Evelyn Doris Acquah, the headmistress of Queens Senior High School, expressed her gratitude to the company for the generous donation. She noted that inadequate furniture had been a significant challenge for the school, which has a student population of over 800. The timely arrival of the desks will alleviate the burden on both students and the school. She also urged the final year students to prepare diligently for the upcoming WASSCE and to steer clear of examination malpractices.
