Accra: Mr. John Darko, a New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Suame, has proposed that Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) make tree planting and green landscaping a condition for issuing building permits. He emphasized that this policy would not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of communities but also act as a natural barrier against environmental risks such as flooding. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Darko highlighted the importance of promoting green urban development to boost environmental sustainability and climate resilience. Tamale: A six-month project aimed at fostering collective action to address issues of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in northern Ghana has been launched. Accra: Meta, the social technology company, in partnership with the Ghana Police Service, has launched an online platform to help trace missing children aged 17 and below. The platform, dubbed ‘AMBER Alert Ghana,’ is available on Facebook, Instagram, and now Messenger, the latest to support the programme. Accra: Ghana Demographic and Health Survey (GDHS), only 12.7 percent of women in Ghana own farmland, either solely or jointly, compared to 24.7 percent of men. This reveals not only a major gender gap in land ownership but also highlights the challenges facing women, particularly in rural communities.
