The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is willing to assist Tunisia so that it could benefit from its technical and funding mechanisms, particularly in the areas of environment, fight against climate change, fight against water stress, digitization of financial transactions, support of local communities and promotion of circular economy, said its Assistant Secretary-General and Director for the Regional Bureau for Arab States Abdallah Al Dardari. In his meeting, Tuesday, with Economy and Planning Minister Samir Saïed, Al Dardari underlined that the UNDP will consolidate Tunisia's efforts in overcoming development challenges and implementing its programmes, stressing the need to draw inspiration from the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) when devising development plans, reads a statement of the ministry on Tuesday. Saïed underlined Tunisia's willingness to benefit from the UNDP experience in implementing development programmes as well as technical and funding mechanisms, particularly in the area of sustainable development. The Economy Minister reiterated Tunisia's determination to ensure that the orientations of the 2023-2025 development plan are in harmony with the SDGs implemented by the United Nations. The two officials discussed ways to boost cooperation between Tunisia and the UNDP, stressing the need to foster coordination between ministries and state agencies so as to ensure the effective implementation of projects as well as achieve the assigned goals in the economic, social and environmental sectors.
