” UGTT pledges to resume dialogue and social negotiations with Prime Ministry ” (Chebbi)

Deputy Secretary General of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) in charge of the civil service Mohamed Chebbi stressed that the trade union centre is committed to the resumption of dialogue and negotiations with the Prime Ministry for the implementation of the agreement of September 15, 2022, which stipulates the implementation of the agreement of February 6 on the revision of the basic status of the civil service.

He stressed in a statement to TAP on the sidelines of the meeting of trade union leaders of the civil service, held Thursday at the headquarters of the Regional Union of Labor (URT) in Sfax at the initiative of the executive board of the URT Sfax, that the trade union centre is committed to resuming dialogue with the Prime Minister based on its belief that issues relating to the civil service and the reform of public institutions can be resolved only through dialogue and negotiations.

The deputy general secretary said that the meeting with civil service trade union leaders was part of a recommendation issued by the trade union centre's executive board following a series of meetings of regional executive boards with a view to consolidating the partnership between the trade union centre and trade union structures in the regions.

Chebbi pointed out that the action programme for the next period includes the organisation of a constitutional conference to discuss the basic status of the civil service and other similar conferences in public establishments and companies and the private sector, calling for the intensification of meetings to enable UGTT members to keep abreast of developments.

The Deputy Secretary General of the UGTT said that the national initiative, which is ready, was being studied by the four presidents of the organisations and would be submitted to the trade union structures and the grassroots before being published as soon as possible.
