Duayaw-Nkwanta: The 37-member Tano North Assembly has approved the President's nominee, Mr. Pius Sampson Opoku, as the Tano North Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) in the Ahafo Region. Mr. Opoku received 36 'yes' votes, representing 97.3 percent, in an election conducted and supervised by the Electoral Commission at Duayaw-Nkwanta, the municipal capital.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Opoku expressed gratitude to the Assembly Members for their trust and confidence in his leadership abilities. He also extended his appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for the opportunity to serve the nation in this capacity. Mr. Opoku called on the Assembly Members to set aside personal and political differences to prioritize the development of the municipality over individual ambitions.
Madam Charity Gardiner, the Ahafo Regional Minister, also conveyed her thanks to the Assembly Members for confirming Mr. Opoku's appointment. She emphasized that with his endorsement, the Assembly is now poised to implement the government's reset agenda in the municipality.
