Head of the renewable energy production group at the Confederation of Citizen Enterprises of Tunisia (CONECT) Abdeltif Ben Hammouda called on industrialists to speed up the energy transition process and diversify energy production sources to run their businesses. During an awareness day for local industrialists held in Sousse, Ben Hammouda urged companies to increase electricity production derived from renewable energy. Exporting companies will no longer be able to sell their products by 2025 if they do not embrace a clean and environmentally-friendly energy model, he pointed out. The rate of electricity production from alternative and renewable energy does not exceed 2.3%, the same source said, adding that the government's development plan seeks to increase Tunisia's production rate of renewable energy to 30 % by 2030.
