Kpando: In a bid to diversify tourist experiences in the Volta Region and the country, the first-ever zipline attraction has been inaugurated in Kpando, Volta Region. Known as the Kpando Lake Mountain (KLM) Zipline, the site offers a panoramic view of the Volta Lake, set atop a mountain.
According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Osafo-Kwaako, the proprietor of KLM Zipline, highlighted the activities available at the site, which include a 700-feet zipline allowing individuals to glide 30 to 40 feet above ground, a 40-feet canopy walk on a wire, and mountain climbing. The primary aim of establishing this site, the first of its kind in the nation, is to enhance tourism around the Volta Lake and provide visitors with a memorable experience.
Dr. Osafo-Kwaako noted that since its official opening on November 29, 2024, visitor numbers have been low. The site charges GHS100 for all services, in addition to a mandatory gate fee of GHS50. The Volta Regional Directorate of the Ghana Tourism Authority has visited the site, offering insights and advice for improvement.
The site is offering complimentary experiences for Ghanaian children under 16, aiming to provide an enjoyable visit and alleviate costs for accompanying parents and guardians. Miss Philipa Yayra, General Manager of KLM Zipline, assured that the site is committed to providing quality services to visitors, with a strong emphasis on safety. The site operates during public holidays and other days convenient for tourists, with a requirement for visitors to schedule their visits at least three days in advance if not on holidays.
