Kadjebi: The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) protest against the appointment of Mr. Samuel Adom Botchway as the Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry is continuing in the Kadjebi District, with offices remaining closed to the public.
According to Ghana News Agency, a visit to the District's Births and Deaths Registry office, Environment Health Directorate, Planning, Budget, and Finance Office revealed that these offices were closed with no staff present. Mr. Emmanuel Doe, the Kadjebi District Chairperson of CLOGSAG, stated they are waiting for instructions from the National Office of the Association regarding the strike action.
Some CLOGSAG members, who spoke anonymously, expressed differing opinions on the protest. While some advocated for government appointments from within to head such sensitive positions, others felt that the Association should not interfere with such appointments.
The National Executive Council (NEC) of CLOGSAG held a meeting on Saturday, February 22, where they unanimously decided to maintain the strike action due to the absence of a clear roadmap to resolve the matter. Mr. Isaac Bampo Addo, Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, mentioned that the NEC was unanimous in its decision to continue the strike, citing the lack of a resolution plan from Mr. Abdul-Rashid H. Pelpuo.
CLOGSAG had declared a nationwide strike on Thursday, February 20, 2025, opposing the appointment of Mr. Samuel Adom Botchway as the Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry.
