German President Steinmeier Mourns Nazi Victims at Lithuania Ceremony
Vilnius: German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, commemorated the Lithuanian victims of the Nazis during World War II in a ceremony on Monday, as Berlin and Vilnius announced plans to extend cultural ties. Steinmeier laid a wreath at the Paneriai Memorial at the event, also attended by Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas. According to Ghana News Agency, around 120,000 people were murdered by Nazis and local collaborators in the Paneriai forest during the German occupation of Lithuania between July 1941 and July 1944.
