Kumasi: The Election Dispute Adjudication Committee (EDAC) of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has requested a postponement of the swearing-in of newly elected Ashanti Regional GJA executives. A release copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) stated that the EDAC had received a petition challenging the result of the Ashanti Regional Chairperson in the recently held GJA elections. According to Ghana News Agency, the swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected National and Regional Executives is scheduled for Friday, July 11, 2025. After reviewing the petition, EDAC is satisfied that it meets the constitutional requirements and will adjudicate on the matter.

Abuakwa: A 25-year-old level 200 student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been jailed 10 years by the Asante Akropong circuit court in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District, for robbing a hairdresser at Abuakwa. Fatawu Amponsah, who is also a driver’s mate, pleaded guilty and was convicted on his own plea, by the court presided by Mrs Gloria Mensah Bonsu. According to Ghana News Agency, Police Detective Inspector Alexander Agbekpornu, prosecuting, told the court that Juliet Nyarko, the victim, was a hairdresser apprentice at Abuakwa-Asenemaso, while Fatawu resided at SDA junction, also in the area.
