Ouagadougou: The Government and People of Burkina Faso have named a major street in the capital, Ouagadougou, after former Ghanaian leader, Jerry John Rawlings. This tribute is part of broader commemorations that included the unveiling of a statue and Memorial Park dedicated to the late Burkinabe Leader, Captain Thomas Sankara. According to Ghana News Agency, the late former President Rawlings shared a deep friendship with Sankara, who was assassinated in a military coup d'état in 1987. The relationship between the two leaders was marked by mutual respect and admiration, influencing political dynamics in the region. The street naming ceremony was attended by a Family Delegation of former President Rawlings. The delegation was led by his daughter, Madam Yaa Asantewaa Agyeman-Rawlings, who serves as the Executive Director of the JJ Rawlings Foundation, alongside his son, Mr Kimathi Rawlings.
