Abidjan: The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank has approved an investment of $100 million in Arise Integrated Industrial Platforms Ltd (Arise IIP) to support the development of industrial parks and special economic zones across Africa. This investment aligns with the bank's strategic priority of industrialization and its flagship Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) initiative. According to African Press Organization, the platforms developed by Arise IIP are focused on transforming key agricultural and industrial value chains in African countries. These nations are major global suppliers of raw commodities but often lack local processing capabilities. The platforms will offer developed industrial land, shared infrastructure and utilities, good export connectivity, and simplified administrative procedures to agro-industrial tenants. This will enable the relocation of global supply chains and enhance value addition within African countries, contributing to the reduction of the carbo n footprint of trade flows. Arise IIP aims to replicate its successful industrial platform implementations in Gabon, Togo, and Benin by establishing Special Economic Zones across other African countries. This initiative seeks to improve Africa's export competitiveness and intra-Africa trade strategies. The investment in Arise IIP reflects the African Development Bank's commitment to scaling up industrialization in competitive value chains. It also demonstrates a strategic partnership with African multilateral financial institutions such as the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) and the Fund for Export Development in Africa (FEDA), the Afreximbank's equity impact investment arm, which are the principal equity investors in Arise IIP. Solomon Quaynor, the bank's Vice President for Private Sector, Infrastructure, and Industrialization, emphasized the joint goals of maximizing Africa's capital for the continent's development. Gagan Gupta, CEO of Arise IIP, expressed enthusiasm about the investment, stating that i t underscores the African Development Bank's confidence in their model as a driver of Africa's industrial growth. He highlighted the partnership's role in transforming local value chains, creating jobs, and supporting sustainable economic development across the continent. Gupta credited the dedication, vision, and hard work of the Arise team in building this significant partnership.
