President Mahama Hosts Volta Chiefs to Discuss Infrastructure Plans

Accra: President John Dramani Mahama has hosted a delegation from the Volta Regional House of Chiefs at the Presidency to discuss future infrastructure projects and express gratitude for their support in the recent elections. The delegation, led by Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, visited to congratulate President Mahama on his victory in the December 2024 general elections.

According to Ghana News Agency, President Mahama, accompanied by Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, welcomed the delegation and expressed his appreciation for the unwavering support from the region. He highlighted his administration's commitment to infrastructure development, emphasizing major road projects in the Volta region. These include the completion of the Eastern Corridor Road and the reconstruction of the Ho-Denu Road, as part of the Big Push programme aimed at investing $10 billion in infrastructure over the next five years.

The President assured that every constituency in the Volta region would benefit from the 10 km per constituency road reconstruction project. He also discussed the ongoing Agavedze Sea Defence Project, noting the progress made in mitigating the impact of tidal waves on local communities. Additionally, he mentioned plans to extend the WACA Project to protect the coastline.

President Mahama also addressed the underutilization of the Ho Airport, announcing plans to open a pilot training school and establish a maintenance facility to boost its use. He highlighted the region's potential in the Feed Ghana Project and agribusiness, particularly through the Volta Palm Project and the Market Enhancement Programme.

Togbe Tepre Hodo IV praised the government for stabilizing the cedi and reducing inflation, expressing optimism about the region's development prospects.
