Nsapo: The Ghana Medical Relief (GMR) has expanded its medical outreach efforts to the World of Friends Children Home in Nsapo, located in the Berekum West District of the Bono Region. The initiative focused on educating the children at the home about oral hygiene care.
According to Ghana News Agency, GMR, a registered non-profit organization operating in both Ghana and the United States, aims to provide free healthcare services to communities. As part of its 2025 medical outreach mission, a team of dentists and medical officers from GMR educated the children at the home. The mission had previously provided healthcare services to over 10,000 residents in the municipality.
The team from GMR also made a donation to the children’s home, consisting of an undisclosed sum of money for maintenance, along with quantities of toothpaste and toothbrushes. They emphasized the importance of maintaining oral hygiene by cleaning teeth before bed and upon waking.
Dr. Ebo Rockson, Vice-President of GMR and Head of the Dental Team, mentioned that the focus on oral hygiene was inspired by the cases of cavities they encountered during their recent outreach at the Berekum Holy Family Hospital. This prompted the extension of oral hygiene education to the children at the home.
Madam Dorothy Serwaa Akoto, the caretaker of the World of Friends Children’s Home, shared that the facility, established in 1994, currently houses 27 children, with additional residents attending various educational institutions. She expressed gratitude for the support provided by GMR.
Mr. Alfred Gborgla, a social welfare officer associated with the home, praised the management for their dedication to the welfare and development of the children.
