Mankranso: Mr. Abubakar Sedik, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, has made a fervent appeal to Assembly members to rise above partisan and personal interests to facilitate the district's development. He urged a collective approach in decision-making to enhance the district's infrastructure and improve socio-economic conditions.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Sedik, addressing the first ordinary meeting of the assembly at Mankranso, emphasized the need for unity among residents to accelerate the development agenda. He reported that the assembly collected GHc 840,213, achieving 91 percent of its revenue target for 2024. Additionally, the Assembly received GHc 1,467,501 from the District Development Fund, though it awaits further funds from the Government of Ghana.
Mr. Sedik highlighted that the assembly is yet to receive allocations from the projected GHc 93,500 Government of Ghana fund designated for various departments. He assured that the available resources could still support targeted development efforts. The DCE stressed the importance of expediting the submission of a budget and work plan for 2025 to access the approved GHc 18,393,425 from the District Assemblies Common Fund.
He also outlined plans for community engagement to address key development issues, including education, roads, health, and sanitation. Mr. Sedik expressed his commitment to completing ten infrastructural projects initiated by the previous government to benefit the district's residents.
Mr. Sedik extended his gratitude to the Assembly members for their overwhelming support, reflected in his 100 percent confirmation in May this year. The meeting concluded with the discussion and approval of the budget aimed at furthering the district's development objectives.
