IGP Yohuno Implements Strategic Changes in Ghana Police Leadership

Accra: Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), has announced significant changes in the leadership of the Ghana Police Service. The adjustments in the police hierarchy are aimed at ensuring more effective management and operational control within the service.

According to Ghana News Agency, the changes were communicated through a press release signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Akrofi-Ansah, Director of Police Public Affairs Directorate (PAD). The reshuffle sees Commissioner of Police (COP) Mrs. Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah taking on the role of Director General (DG) of Research and Planning. DCOP Ms. Lydia Yaako Donkor has been appointed as the new DG for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), with DCOP Frank Abrokwa serving as her deputy.

The reshuffle also designates COP Paul Manly Awini to oversee the Service Workshop, while COP Daniel Kwame Afriyie becomes DG of Private Security Organisation. In other appointments, COP Dr. Ernest Kwabena Owusu will serve as DG of Services, and COP Mohammed Fuseini Suraji has been named DG of the National Patrols Department (NAPD).

Further changes include COP Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba as the new DG of Technical, and COP Mr. Michael Nketia Frempong as the DG for Finance. COP Mr. Asumadu Okyere Darko has been appointed DG for the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB), and COP Iddi Lansah Seidu will now head the Welfare Department.

Additional appointments include COP Mrs. Faustina A.K. Andoh-Kwofie as the Commandant of the Ghana Police Command and Staff College in Winneba. COP Joseph Okla Gyamera is now the DG for Legal and Prosecutions, while COP Peter Baba Atiniak leads the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID). Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Dr. David Agyeman Adjem has been appointed as DG for Administration, DCOP Mr. Vance Gariba becomes the DG for Operations, and DCOP Sebastian Atsu Wemegah takes on the role of DG for Information Communications Technology (ICT).

DCOP Eric Ken Winful has been named DG of the National Protection Department, DCOP Mr. Arhin Kwasi Annor assumes the role of DG of Special Duty, DCOP Mr. Frederick Kofi Blagodzi leads the Human Resource Department, and DCOP Mr. Gabriel Prince Waabu becomes the DG for the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD).

The reshuffle also includes several regional police commanders: DCOP Mr. Duut Tuaruka for Greater Accra, DCOP Francis Kwame Tsidi for Western North, DCOP Abraham Acquaye for Central North, and DCOP Yao Dogbey Tettegah for Bono. Additionally, ACP Mr. Wisdom Akorli is the Volta Regional Police Commander, ACP Mr. Joshua Coppson leads Volta North, and ACP Mr. Wisdom Lavoe is the Northern Regional Police Commander.
