Zebilla: One soldier has died while six others sustained injuries after a fatal road crash at Saka near Zebilla in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region. The incident involved a Ghana Armed Forces light-armoured vehicle and is reported to have occurred around 1600 hours on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
According to Ghana News Agency, eyewitnesses indicated that the vehicle was traveling at high speed from Bawku towards Bolgatanga when one of its tyres suddenly detached. This caused the driver to lose control and led to the accident. The identities of the deceased and other officers are yet to be disclosed. The injured soldiers were initially taken to the Zebilla government hospital for treatment and later airlifted to Accra.
The incident adds to several road crashes involving the Ghana Armed Forces on the Bolgatanga-Bawku stretch. In a similar event on October 16, 2024, one soldier lost his life when a military vehicle crashed at Bazua in the Binduri District. Additionally, two motorbike riders lost their lives in separate accidents involving military vehicles on February 9 and February 11 this year at Zebilla and Bazua, respectively.
