The authorities have temporarily closed the mobile bridge of Bizerte to allow the civil protection services to extinguish the fire which had broken out Wednesday morning in one of the electrical adjustment stations located at the bottom of the bridge, said Local Director of Equipment in Bizerte Oumzine Tamni. The momentary fire which has been successfully put out has no impact on the regular traffic of the infrastructure, he assured in a statement to TAP, inviting however users to take the GP11 highway in Menzel Bourguiba as an alternative route. The fire was triggered by an electrical short circuit in one of the bridge's adjustment stations, according to the technical services of the bridge.
