Hamburg: A woman has died in Hamburg after attempting to retrieve her glasses from the Alster lake, which fell from her boat as it docked, police reported on Monday. The 57-year-old reportedly dived under a jetty in search of her glasses but failed to resurface. She was later pulled lifeless from the water, and efforts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful. Passers-by had alerted emergency services.
According to Ghana News Agency, two men also went missing while swimming in waterways around the city in unrelated incidents on Sunday. A 40-year-old man jumped into the Elbe River, where he was swiftly carried away by the current. Approximately 50 rescuers, utilizing drones, a helicopter, and boats, searched for the man, but the efforts were called off by Sunday evening.
In another incident, a 46-year-old man disappeared underwater while swimming in a different city waterway. Around 40 rescuers have been searching for him, but as of Monday, he remains missing, police reported.
