Opposition Leader Tufan Erhrman Secures Presidential Victory in Northern Cyprus
Nicosia: Opposition leader Tufan Erhrman clinched a decisive victory in the presidential elections in Northern Cyprus, a region solely recognized as an independent state by Turkey. Erhrman, representing the center-left CHP, garnered 62.8% of the vote, surpassing conservative incumbent Ersin Tatar’s 35.8%, as reported by the territory’s YSK electoral authority. This significant margin rendered a run-off election unnecessary. According to Ghana News Agency, voter turnout reached 65% from an eligible voter base of approximately 218,000. In his victory speech, Erhrman assured his supporters that he would serve as a president for all, hinting at a potential shift in diplomatic relations
