GPGD Network to Institute Ga-Dangme Student Awards at Ada College of Education

Ada: The Graduates and Professionals of the Ga-Dangme Network (GPGD Network) have agreed to institute an award for Ga-Dangme students at the Ada College of Education. Mr. Emmanuel Obodai, the President of the GPGD Network, disclosed this initiative as a means to motivate Ga-Dangme students to focus on their studies and build a future for themselves.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Obodai emphasized that the award would serve as encouragement and inspiration for Ga-Dangme students pursuing higher education. To foster partnerships, the network’s executives visited the management of Ada College of Education to explore collaborative opportunities aimed at supporting Ga-Dangme and other students in accessing tertiary education.

Mr. Obodai noted that the courtesy call was also intended to identify areas for institutional support and development partnerships, as well as discuss strategies for resource mobilization to address the college’s infrastructure and program needs. The visit aligns with the GPGD Network’s broader education advocacy agenda, which includes collaboration with Plan International and the Adenta Municipal Chief Executive on the ‘Reintegration of 3,000 School Dropouts’ Project.

Mr. Obodai further mentioned plans to engage with potential partners, donors, and stakeholders to support the college’s development initiatives. This includes exploring international collaborations and technical support, as well as integrating the college’s needs into the GPGD Network’s 2025/2026 education advocacy and fundraising agenda.

Professor Prince Boateng, Principal of Ada College of Education, expressed gratitude to the GPGD Network for their visit. He highlighted challenges faced by the college, such as limited support from traditional authorities, inadequate infrastructure, and insufficient technical resources for effective student training.

Professor Boateng suggested that the college and the network could collaborate to construct a sporting venue to host the 2026 inter-regional games for the Eastern, Volta, and Greater Accra Regions. He also called for partnerships with international universities to promote academic and cultural exchanges and provide technical tools to enhance practical teaching and learning.

Additionally, Professor Boateng requested the facilitation of early grade and early childhood education programs, the construction of an Astroturf football pitch through a public-private partnership (PPP) arrangement, refurbishment of the library at an estimated cost of GHs 70,000, and development of a restaurant and fencing on the college premises to improve safety and welfare for students.
