Accra: Madam Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba, the Minister of State-designate for Public Sector Reforms, announced plans to strengthen digital platforms initiated by the previous government to boost efficiency and productivity in the public sector. She emphasized leveraging digital technology to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and curb corrupt practices, aiming to enhance transparency and accountability. According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Lamisi Akanvariba recognized the digital platforms and e-governance systems established by earlier administrations to improve public sector service delivery. The Member of Parliament for Tempane in the Upper East Region provided these assurances while appearing before Parliament's Appointments Committee for vetting. This process aims to assess the nominee's skills and qualifications for leading the ministry. Madam Lamisi Akanvariba expressed her commitment to collaborating with other sector ministries to enhance productivity and service delivery. She also promised to motivate and r e-orient public sector workers, offering incentives to employees who perform well. Addressing concerns about the dismissal of employees recruited by the previous administration, the nominee suggested a national dialogue involving all relevant stakeholders to establish a consensus on public sector recruitment. She believes that a unified approach to recruiting personnel, particularly for security services, would help reduce related controversies. Madam Lamisi Akanvariba affirmed that with political support and adequate resources, she could contribute to implementing President Mahama's vision for public sector reform.
