Dr Lawrence Tetteh Urges Leaders to Prioritize for Nation’s Development

Accra: Dr Lawrence Tetteh, Founder/President of Worldwide Miracle Outreach, emphasized the importance of prioritizing for national development during his address at the West Africa Sub-Regional Leadership Workshop held in Accra. He stated that leaders must have their priorities right to transition from the trenches to a state of growth and development.

According to Ghana News Agency, Dr Tetteh highlighted the necessity of identifying key priorities as a nation, suggesting that this would guide investment decisions for future growth. Speaking on the theme 'First Things First,' he asserted that prioritization should be the foundation of national development. He further mentioned that by putting first things first, leaders could ensure that subsequent actions naturally follow in building a stronger nation.

Dr Tetteh also noted the importance of mastering the basics, including communication skills, to enable individuals to articulate effectively and contribute meaningfully to society. He urged leaders to return to foundational steps, advocating for a systematic approach to building a stable groundwork for development.

Most Reverend Professor Johnson Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, expressed concerns about the youth's inclination towards equating success with material wealth. He warned that such a mindset could lead to a loss of moral and ethical values. He stressed that leadership should focus on human flourishing and the importance of maintaining integrity to avoid misplaced priorities.

Mr Eric S. Nyuma, Africa Regional Director of EQUIP Leadership: Beyond Success Programme and JMTI, highlighted the sustained efforts to train leaders in good values across the African continent. He mentioned that the organization had been active in 25 African countries and aimed to reach 30 by the end of the year. He emphasized the urgency of focusing on essentials to achieve significant results.

Mr Ben Quarm, Country Coordinator of EQUIP Leadership Beyond Success Ghana, remarked on the current global challenges in leadership, citing issues of accountability and dysfunction. He echoed John C. Maxwell's sentiment that transformation begins with individuals taking responsibility for change. He reiterated that the workshop's theme serves as a reminder for leaders to realign their priorities to reflect what truly matters.
