Bono East Minister Rallies MMDAs Support for ‘Reset Ghana’ Agenda

Techiman: Mr Francis Owusu Antwi, Bono East Regional Minister, has called on employees of the Metropolitan, Municipal, and Districts Assemblies (MMDAs) to support the government in its 'reset agenda' to transform the nation's fortunes. Describing the 'reset Ghana' initiative as progressing, he emphasized the role of technocrats in helping change public sector employees' attitudes and urged acceptance of changes arising from the 'reset' processes.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Antwi made the call at the opening session of a two-day Quality Assurance Hands-Holding Working on the 2024 Annual Progress Reports (APRs) of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) held in Techiman and organized by the NDPC. He commended the NDPC for its commitment to promoting evidence-based decision-making and transparency in the development processes, highlighting the importance of discussing the 2024 APRs.

Mr Antwi advised the participants, mostly key staff of the MMDAs, to take the workshop seriously and contribute to the discussions, leveraging their experience and expertise. He urged them to take time, identify, and proffer solutions to development challenges.

Mr Isaac Kwesi Eweh, the Principal Planning Officer at the NDPC, noted that the Commission collaborated with stakeholders and published the Agenda for Jobs phase II programme, which aims to create a medium-term development policy framework. The goal is to create a self-confident and prosperous nation through exploiting human and natural resources within a democratic and fair society. The framework is designed to concentrate on six development sectors.

The sectors include Economic Development, Social Development, Environment, Infrastructure and Human Settlements, Governance, Corruption and Public Accountability, and Emergency Planning and Response Implementation, Coordination, and Monitoring and Evaluation (ICME).
