Anloga: A total of 1,544 candidates have been registered to write the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Anloga District of the Volta Region. The candidates comprise 798 boys and 746 girls, drawn from 13 private basic schools and 49 public schools within the District.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Godknows Agbakpe, the Anloga District Examination Officer, stated that the examination will be conducted at the usual eight designated centres across the district. These centres are strategically located in both the littoral (coastal) and Kome-Shime zones to ensure accessibility for all candidates. The centres along the coastal belt include Anlo Senior High School, Zion College, Anyanui E.P. Basic School, and Tegbi E.P. Basic School, while centres in the Kome-Shime area are Atito E.P. Basic School, Agortoe E.P. Basic School, and Blemeazado E.P. Basic School.
Mr. Agbakpe, speaking in an exclusive interview with the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday morning, expressed optimism about this year's performance. He attributed this to enhanced preparation efforts by teachers and school administrators across the district. 'Our candidates this year are well-prepared for the BECE. Teachers have worked diligently to equip them academically and psychologically. We are hopeful of achieving at least a 65 percent pass rate this year,' Mr. Agbakpe stated.
Meanwhile, Mr. Dominic Yao Dzanado, the District Director of Education, has appealed to parents and stakeholders to extend their full support to the candidates during this critical period. He stressed the importance of creating a stable environment for the students as they revise and prepare for the exams. 'Academic preparation alone is not enough. Our children need psychological stability and material support during this final stretch. We are calling on parents to ensure their wards are well-fed, well-rested, and free from undue household stress as they approach the examination week,' Mr. Dzanado urged.
Authorities in the Anloga District Education Office have assured the public that all logistical and security measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth and incident-free examination process. Some candidates engaged by the Ghana News Agency in some schools also expressed confidence and optimism, saying, 'We shall graduate with flying colours.'
The 2025 BECE is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 9th, and to end on Monday, June 16th.
