Assin nsuta: A 59-year-old entrepreneur has been installed as the Queen Mother of Assin Nsuta in the Assin South District of the Central Region at a colourful ceremony. Nana Ampofowaa Mpradwoa Yeboa II, known in private life as Mrs. Cornelia Mary Yeboa Boateng and Benkumhemaa of the Apimanim Traditional Area, was formally introduced and accepted by all amidst drumming and dancing.
According to Ghana News Agency, speaking at her coronation, Nana Ampofowaa Mpradwoa Yeboa II expressed gratitude to the Almighty God for the honour and promised to bring about the needed change to restore Assin Nsuta to its former glory. She outlined her focus on four thematic areas for the community: education, grooming, vocational and skills training, and empowerment and advocacy.
On the subject of education, she emphasized the importance of providing girls with access to quality inclusive education, supporting their academic and social success while addressing barriers like child marriages, pregnancies during schooling, and poverty. Regarding upbringing, she pledged to promote a safe environment for girls by educating their families and the community on equal care, protection from harmful practices, and building confidence and resilience from an early age.
In terms of vocational and skills training, the new queen mother plans to provide practical training in technology, agriculture, and business to prepare girls for employment and entrepreneurship, fostering financial independence and community upliftment. On empowerment and advocacy, Nana Yeboa aims to equip girls with knowledge of their rights, encourage active participation in decision-making, and nurture future leaders who can challenge poverty and inequality.
Nana Yeboa also stated her intention to collaborate with the Chief and queen mothers of the Apimanim Traditional Area for the development of Nsutaman. She further advised the people to eschew all forms of negative behaviors that undermine development, promising to work hand in hand with all community members to push the right agenda forward.
