MoFA Warns Against Fraudulent Grant Scheme Targeting SMEs

Accra: The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has issued a warning to the public concerning a fraudulent online scheme aimed at Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SME) agri-businesses, involving a fake grant registration.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Ministry released a statement on Tuesday highlighting that the publication circulating on social media is designed to deceive unsuspecting individuals and businesses and should be disregarded. The fraudulent scheme attempts to convince SMEs to register with an entity named Global Farmers Association (GFA), allegedly based in Nairobi, Kenya, to acquire a certificate of accreditation under a non-existent Agricultural SMEs Grant Initiative 2025.

The Ministry clarified that the website, email address, and contacts shared in the publications have no affiliation with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. It emphasized that the purported SMEs grant initiative 2025 is entirely fake and fraudulent. The Ministry urged the public to refrain from engaging in any business dealings with entities claiming to offer the fake grant and reiterated its role as the lead agency responsible for agricultural policy and strategy.

In related developments, the Ministry recently accepted a donation of 2,000 metric tons of fertilizer from the Kingdom of Morocco to bolster national agricultural productivity. Mr. John Dumelo, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, speaking on behalf of the sector Minister, Eric Opoku, described this donation as a significant and strategic intervention, underscoring the robust relationship between the two nations. He affirmed the government’s dedication to agricultural transformation through this gesture.
