Banda-ahenkro: The Banda District Assembly in the Bono Region has reported a collection of GHS 194,283.80 in Internally Generated Funds (IGF) for the first half of 2025, according to Mr. Peter Dongi, the Banda District Chief Executive. He noted that this amount is significantly below the assembly’s target of GHS 8.3 million for the year, urging revenue collectors to intensify their efforts and taxpayers to fulfill their obligations to help achieve the necessary funds for district development.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Dongi highlighted that the Assembly is introducing new measures to boost revenue collection, which will complement the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) and support the district’s development initiatives. Speaking at the First Ordinary General Meeting of the Ninth Assembly in Banda-Ahenkro, he emphasized the importance of judicious use of IGF for development and reiterated the need for prompt payment of taxes and rates by the community.
He further stated that effective mobilization and utilization of financial resources are crucial for the Assembly’s development goals. To this end, a task force has been established to ensure the enforcement of tax, rate, and fee payments. Mr. Dongi also mentioned that the assembly has strengthened community awareness campaigns about the importance of tax payments and called on local traditional authorities to assist in the revenue collection efforts.
