Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, Nine Others Appear Before Accra High Court

Accra: Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, and nine others have appeared before an Accra High Court. They face charges of conspiracy to commit crime, specifically money laundering and extortion, and using public office for profit.

According to Ghana News Agency, the accused are alleged to have leveraged their offices to accrue a total of GHC280 million for personal gain. The seven individuals charged have pleaded not guilty to the accusations.

The accused include Jacob Kwamina Amuah, Wendy Newman, Albert Ankrah, Isaac Mensah, Bright Bediako-Mensah, and three corporate entities: Propnest Limited, Kel Logistics, and Kings Energy Limited.

The court, under the jurisdiction of Justice Mary Maame Ekue Yanzuh, has granted bail to the accused, setting the amount at GHC2 million cedis each. The conditions of bail include providing sureties who are public servants with a monthly income of not less than GHC5,000, and the provision of landed property as additional bail justification.

The case has been adjourned until August 26, 2025, for further proceedings.
