Kumasi: Professor Rita Akosua Dickson, the Vice-Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has called on the KNUST School of Business (KSB) to maintain its leadership role in promoting entrepreneurship as a central component of the university's broader development objectives. She highlighted this during the launch of the 20th Anniversary Celebrations and Alumni Homecoming of KSB.
According to Ghana News Agency, Prof. Dickson stressed the importance of fostering stronger collaborations between the School of Business and other colleges within the university. These partnerships, she noted, should ensure that the elements of teaching, learning, research, and community service are integrated with an entrepreneurial mindset. She emphasized that graduates should leave the university equipped not only with degrees but also with prototypes and business ideas ready for implementation.
Prof. Dickson underscored the necessity for the university to continue honing the entrepreneurial skills of its students, encouraging them to be job creators rather than mere job seekers. The theme for the celebration, '20 Years of Excellence in Business Education: Building Capacity and Resilience for Sustainable Development,' reflects these aspirations.
She commended both current and former students for their curiosity and critical thinking, urging them to continue striving to become transformative leaders who can meet the needs of Ghana, Africa, and the world. King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, also spoke at the event, calling for a new generation of transformational leaders committed to meaningful change and resilience in the face of challenges.
The Ga Mantse encouraged academic institutions, particularly KSB, to go beyond equipping students with employable skills by working towards building resilience, adaptability, and cultural roots in future business leaders. He also urged KSB to enhance its engagement with traditional institutions to shape leaders who are not only academically excellent but also socially conscious and development-driven.
Professor Ahmed Agyapong, Dean of the KNUST School of Business, reaffirmed the school's commitment to innovation. He announced plans to expand facilities and integrate emerging technologies into business education, ensuring that the school is fully prepared for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
