Geneva: FIND (www.FINDdx.org) recently hosted a meeting with Ambassadors from 26 African countries and the African Union at its offices in the Global Health Campus in Geneva. The gathering focused on providing an overview of FIND's initiatives in the respective countries, discussing future prospects, and highlighting FIND's role as a key partner in diagnostics for these nations. According to African Press Organization, the foundation of effective health response lies in accurate diagnosis. The meeting yielded several key conclusions, including a commitment to strengthen regional manufacturing of diagnostics and health technologies, increased cooperation between AU-FIND to align with country and Africa CDC's diagnostic priorities, and support for FIND's role as a technical partner to expand access to essential diagnostics for diseases such as HIV, TB, malaria, mpox, and emerging outbreaks. Diagnostics were recognized as a fundamental element of health security and universal health coverage. Dr. Ayoade Alakija, FIND's Board Chair, remarked on the significant changes occurring globally, with African leaders taking action to address the health challenges on the continent. FIND remains committed to supporting these efforts by strengthening pandemic preparedness and ensuring access to quality diagnostics for all. The Diagnostics Day event on 21 May, to be held at the Vieux Bois in Geneva, will gather global health leaders to discuss next steps in ensuring quality and accessible diagnostics worldwide.
