Atebubu: The Ghana Police Service has refuted claims that it has neglected Inspector Alfred N. Kuuzaa, a police officer who sustained gunshot wounds on December 7, 2024, at Atebubu in the Bono East Region. The officer was injured while returning home after the general election and is currently receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
According to Ghana News Agency, the Police Service released a statement on Saturday addressing the allegations circulating on social media. The statement emphasized that the service has not neglected Inspector Kuuzaa and has been actively involved in ensuring he receives appropriate medical care. The statement clarified that all necessary steps have been taken by the Police Service to ensure the injured officer receives the best possible medical attention.
The statement further detailed that Inspector Kuuzaa has undergone the required surgeries, fully funded by the Police Administration through the Police Emergency Medical Intervention Fund (PERMIF). The Ashanti Regional Police Director of Welfare has been providing essential support, maintaining close communication with Inspector Kuuzaa's family and the medical team, and serving as the primary liaison between the Police Service and the family.
The Police Service categorically stated that the claims of neglect were false and urged the public to disregard such misinformation. The statement concluded with well-wishes for Inspector Kuuzaa's speedy recovery and a salute to all police officers who continue to risk their lives to maintain peace in the country.
