Pregnant Girls and Nursing Mothers Participate in WASSCE at KASEC Centre

Kadjebi: Three pregnant girls and three nursing mothers are among the 897 candidates taking the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) at the Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School (KASEC) Examination Centre. The candidates include 404 males and 497 females, distributed across three examination centers.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Francis Bodzonah, who serves as the Supervisor at the center and is the Assistant Headmaster in charge of Academics, provided this information during a monitoring visit on Monday, August 25, 2025. This visit coincided with the candidates sitting for their Social Studies paper. Mr. Bodzonah noted that, aside from two absentees, the examination was proceeding without any disruptions.

The presence of pregnant girls and nursing mothers among the candidates has sparked concern. A Reverend Minister commented on the situation, attributing it to what he perceives as a 'decline in morality' that has led to underage girls becoming pregnant while still in school.

In the broader context of the Kadjebi District, a total of 1,171 candidates have registered for the 2025 WASSCE. This group comprises 570 males and 601 females, representing the three senior high schools located within the district.
