President Kais Saied on Friday ordered drafting a new text giving priority to young people in the exploitation of state land for the creation of communitarian enterprises, according to a statement from the presidency. "Some 230,000 hectares of state land are either neglected or have been exploited cheaply for the benefit of individuals for decades, in addition to corruption and the seizure of large areas without any legal basis," the President of the Republic said as he received the Ministers of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, Ezzedine Ben Cheikh, and State Property and Land Affairs, Wajdi Hedhili. "Priority is a principle enshrined in law and must be enshrined in the exploitation of state land," he added. "Tunisia needs a new agricultural clarity that will benefit citizens and the country as a whole," concluded the Head of State, stressing that "Tunisia can achieve agricultural sufficiency thanks to its wealth". The meeting focused in particular on the status of the Office of State Lands and the need to clean it up. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
