NDC Urged to Honour Grassroots Heroes Behind Mahama’s Victory

Accra: Mr Mac-Billions Bansah, Deputy Communications Officer of the Ho Central Constituency, has called on the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the John Dramani Mahama-led government to recognise and reward the party’s grassroots members whose sacrifices secured its return to power. In a statement titled ‘Remember the Hands That Built the Victory,’ Mr Bansah reminded the new administration that political power was transient and must be used wisely to strengthen both governance and party unity.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Bansah emphasised that the NDC’s electoral triumph was made possible through the efforts of its foot soldiers, ward executives, and community organisers. He cautioned against sidelining the individuals who worked diligently at the local level once governance begins, warning that it would be a mistake to make them feel useful only during campaigns and rallies but forgotten when it is time to share in the rewards of governance.

Mr Bansah highlighted that the Reset Ghana Agenda under the Mahama administration should not only focus on national reforms but also repair and strengthen internal party relationships. He urged that true progress begins at home and as the nation is rebuilt, trust and morale of the party members should also be rebuilt.

Additionally, Mr Bansah, also a member of the Volta Regional Communications Team, noted that a strong and motivated base was crucial to sustaining the NDC’s vision and electoral dominance. He called for deliberate inclusion, fairness, and recognition in political appointments, job placements, and development opportunities, stressing that when the base feels seen and valued, the party becomes unstoppable.

In concluding his statement, Mr Bansah reminded the party leadership that power is transient, but legacy is lasting, urging them to honour the hands that built the victory as they are the foundation upon which the future stands.
