FAAPA Conducts Extensive Training Seminar for African Photojournalists

Rabat: Photojournalists from several African nations are participating in a five-day training seminar aimed at enhancing their skills and knowledge in the field of photojournalism. The seminar is organized by the Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies (FAAPA) in collaboration with the African Centre for the Training of Journalists (CAFJ) under the theme ‘Mastering Photojournalism’.

According to Ghana News Agency, the training initiative seeks to equip photojournalists with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, thereby improving their trade. It also provides a platform for participants to exchange experiences and address challenges unique to photojournalists in Africa.

In his welcoming address, Mr. Fouad Arif, President of FAAPA, emphasized the significance of photojournalism as a powerful storytelling tool capable of shaping public opinion. He highlighted the importance of African press agencies developing their photographic services to keep pace with the rapid changes brought about by artificial intelligence and the digital revolution.

Mr. Arif, who also serves as the Director General of the Moroccan Agency (MAP), urged participants to refine their techniques and nurture their creativity. He expressed hope that the skills acquired during the seminar would significantly contribute to advancing their respective press agencies across Africa.

Mr. Jean Bedel Ndandula, a facilitator from the Congolese Press Agency, noted that the seminar attracted reporters and photographers representing 25 African press agencies, all gathered in Morocco for this specialized training on mastering photojournalism.
