Bawumia Promises to Recognise Sacrifices of Party Faithful

Dormaa-ahenkro: The former Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged to establish a comprehensive welfare data system for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) if he is endorsed as the flagbearer for the 2028 elections. He emphasized the importance of acknowledging and compensating the sacrifices and contributions of party members.

According to Ghana News Agency, Alhaji Dr Bawumia made this promise during a meeting with polling station officers, electoral area coordinators, and branch executives of the NPP in the Dormaa Central Constituency. The meeting, held in Dormaa-Ahenkro, was part of his campaign tour in the Bono Region. He was accompanied by prominent party figures, including Mr Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, former Majority Leader, and Nana Akomea, former Chief Executive Officer of the State Transport Corporation (STC).

Alhaji Dr Bawumia also addressed party members in Wamfie, Dormaa West Constituency, highlighting the need to address the concerns of party members to prevent internal tensions and disagreements. He stated that a welfare data system is necessary to identify loyal members who have significantly contributed to the party’s growth. He emphasized that understanding the varied needs of members requires such a system.

As he canvasses for votes across the country ahead of the NPP Election 2028 Presidential Primary scheduled for January 31, 2026, Alhaji Dr Bawumia proposed that electoral coordinators should also serve as welfare coordinators in their constituencies. He assured that his administration would ensure job opportunities for deserving party members, with quarterly reviews to identify those still unemployed.

Additionally, Alhaji Dr Bawumia announced plans for ten appointments in ministerial and deputy ministerial roles, as well as positions for Chief Executives of state institutions, ambassadors, and deputy ambassadors. A committee comprising polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, and party elders will be formed to select candidates for these appointments.

He was supported in his campaign efforts by other party executives, including Mr Kwame Baffoe, Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP, among others.
