Atebubu Paramount Queen-Mother Leads Major Clean-Up Exercise to Prevent Disease Outbreak

Atebubu: Nana Afia Donyina II, the Paramount Queen-mother of the Atebubu Traditional Area in the Bono East Region, has spearheaded a large-scale clean-up exercise aimed at eliminating filth and preventing the outbreak of communicable diseases in the Atebubu Township. Market women, keep fit clubs, and personnel from the Atebubu/Amantin Municipal Assembly participated by clearing choked gutters and collecting plastic waste containers from the main streets in an effort that lasted several hours.

According to Ghana News Agency, the clean-up initiative focused on key locations, particularly the Atebubu main lorry station and the Atebubu market, where participants worked diligently to clean the dirty surroundings. Nana Donyina expressed her satisfaction with the high turnout and praised the community for their strong sense of communal spirit.

Emphasizing the importance of cleanliness, Nana Donyina II urged residents to maintain a clean environment by refraining from littering and indiscriminate dumping of plastic waste. She highlighted that culture represents the true identity of people and encouraged the youth to learn, promote, and preserve their cultural heritage while avoiding social vices that could harm their future.

Nana Donyina II also mentioned that the clean-up exercise serves as a preparatory step for the 2025 'Foyawo' yam festival and homecoming. The festival, themed 'mobilizing for sustainable water supply in Atebubu,' will include various activities such as breast and health screenings, adolescent reproductive health education, a procession, and the Atebubu education excellence awards.

In her closing remarks, Nana Donyina II called for unity and collective efforts among the people to contribute toward the holistic development of the Atebubu Traditional Area.
