Adzorvi D/A Primary School to Get New Classroom Block

Adzorvi: The Adzorvi D/A Primary School in the Agotime-Ziope District of the Volta Region will soon benefit from a new three-unit classroom block designed to address the school's infrastructure challenges. The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Alfred Klu Odikro, announced this during a working visit to the Adzorvi community, where he revealed that a sod-cutting ceremony would be held later this month to officially launch the project. According to Ghana News Agency, construction is set to commence immediately following the ceremony, with an expected completion date by December this year. For years, pupils in the upper primary classes have been learning in makeshift structures made from bamboo and palm fronds, which have left them vulnerable to harsh weather conditions and disrupted academic activities. A recent rainstorm further damaged these temporary structures, exacerbating the situation. The dire condition of the school came to light following a video report by Xcite TV, which highlighted the deteriora ting learning environment and triggered public outcry and calls from education advocates for urgent government intervention. Mr. Odikro assured the community of the Assembly's commitment to addressing infrastructure deficits in the education sector. He noted that this project is part of a broader district initiative to improve educational outcomes by providing safer and more conducive learning spaces. The DCE emphasized the government's recognition of the importance of quality education and its commitment to ensuring that children in rural areas, such as Adzorvi, are not left behind. He called on community members to support the construction process to ensure its successful and timely completion, encouraging them to take ownership of the project and contribute to its sustainability. Mr. Felix Wordi, the Assemblyman for the Dzramave Electoral Area, praised the Assembly for its swift response and pledged the community's full support to facilitate the early completion of the project. Residents of Adzorvi welco med the news, expressing optimism that the new classroom block would improve pupil retention, reduce absenteeism, and enhance academic performance. The initiative aims to provide a stable and secure environment for teaching and learning, replacing the current temporary shelters and creating better conditions for both teachers and learners.
